Furthermore, 308 it’s a high-quality solid  Mauser pattern rifle from the same company that makes Japanese military small arms, they are quite popular outside of the US, Japanese police marksmen use them and in my opinion, they are better than a stock bare bones rem 700. Buds have a deal on them, .308 with a Nikko sterling optic for $444 but with buds you can make them an offer so maybe closer to $400 but can be had $370 or so without the optic if you shop around.

I finally got to shoot one of these and have to say it blows away my first rifle.  It was an Interarms .270 with a 4 power Redfield scope.  I complained about it for a year but my dad said it was good enough.  He finally took me to the range and after seeing me shoot a 5″ group at 100 yards,  let me shoot his .270 Gibbs Pre ’64 model 70 with a 4-12 Leupold.  I shot a 3 shot group at 100 yards that were touching.  Within one week I had a 25-06 Weatherby Vanguard with a 3-9 Leupold that also shot like a dream.  I still have it 30 years later.

Novice hunter myself and saw one in this store in 30-06 and picked it up for less than $309 all in. Overall my opinions match your evaluation of the rifle and I have to say I am pretty satisfied with my purchase. Beautiful ? rifle.

I got this gun around October from this store ? and I love it. I run 180grain federal premium through it and the grouping is good

just purchased one now Ive got to sight it in. Everything you checked on with the trigger and the action is the same with mine so anyone buying one, these seem to be standard issues but really aren’t that bad at all. Awesome job. Good deal on a great rifle. Savage makes a really good setup with their free-floating bolt face helps keep your ammo concentric in the chamber very very nice. You’re getting all that variation from that ammunition for sure . It’s been sitting and the. I’m enjoying the quality of the scopes.

Just bought the same rifle yesterday. I’m still learning about the savage rifle. So I am very thankful for the book ? notes which came with the ordered. I don’t want to try it out until I am comfortable all around. Any extra in put would be much appreciated. So far I am happy with it. Thanks so much for the fast delivery ?

Just got my Axis II .30-06 and sighted it in at 100yards, yesterday–

$350usd with Weaver 3×9 scope, accutrigger, and sling swivels installed at the factory…

The real story, though, is how accurate it was out of the box!

Didn’t do a thing to it, didnt even have to touch the dials, and I made one bullseye, and put two rounds through the same hole in the first eight shots ever! All the rest of my rounds were in the “kill zone”…

Yeah… I think I can safely call myself a ‘Savage fan,’ now! ??

Took my Savage Axis II XP .30-06 into my gunsmith and he checked the barrel and said there wasn’t enough metal there to thread it.

Thanks for the Delivery. I just bought my 12 year old this model in a left handed creedmoor. However I have a question about the stock. When I take the spacer out, the recoil pad does not fit in the stock. It should be a simple procedure, but I am stumped!!

I have the savage 111 in .308 and it is one of my favorite hunting rifles. It does not have the Acutrigger, but besides that it looks pretty much the same as the axis 2. Mine did not come with a scope so I had to buy one. I didn’t spend a lot of money on the scope because where I hunt shots of 100 yards are average for deer. The scope I have mounted is Bushnell Banner 3x9x40 and it works just fine for that range and purpose. I epoxy filled the front end of my rifle stock because I was not getting consistent groups. If you remove the rifle from the stock you will see compartments in the fore end. These compartments are easily twisted with minimal pressure. I checked out Boyd’s stocks for this rifle and just a basic laminate stock from them was 175.00. a cherry stock with all the trimmings would cost more than I purchased the rifle for new. So before this rife became a money pit I went with reinforcing the forefend. I figured the worst thing that could happen is I destroyed the stock and would have to find a replacement. After watching a few videos on how to do this I can say it worked out just fine. I actually like the lighter polymer stock vs. a wood stock. i know some purists would never shoot a rifle unless it has a nice wood stock, but they come at a much higher price point. My honest opinion is if you are a hunter and are going to be taking your rifle out in the field the polymer stock is much more weather resistant and durable than wood. Last thought on this is don’t try to make a 350.00 rifle into a 1000.00 rifle. If you want a more expensive rifle buy it new, otherwise what is the sense of buying an inexpensive hunting rifle and then spending more on upgrades to make yourself fell better. If something works leave it alone. I bought this rifle few days ago and it was delivered to me. It’s a gift ? for my grand son . Thank you ?? ?

I just bought one of these and for the price I’m fairly impressed. I tried 150, 160, and 175 gr and it was quite accurate. Worst i did was 1.0″ at 100 with 150, but I improved that after moving the scope back a little and re-zeroing. With a better scope I might improve. It will definitely down a whitetail. Thought I might watch a couple reviews. Your impression is pretty much the same as mine.
