The Philippines. We don’t know much about this country except that they’re in a very hot part of Asia, so they probably have delicious spicy food and spiders the size of coffee tables. But we do know that’s where Armscor is headquartered, and we know that because we like their consistent 7.62×51 ball ammunition.
This cartridge’s beauty lies in its simplicity. The M80 round has an FMJ bullet – all you need to ensure smooth feeding in a semi-auto and prevent the rapid leading of any firearm’s barrel. The bullet’s mid-body cannelure keeps it from creeping out of its seating while ignition jars it in the magazine. The bullet jacket is bimetal: It contains steel, and it will draw a magnet.
This ammo does have solid brass cases, though. You can still see faint annealing marks from the heat treatment which made them more supple, and you can make fine use of them with the help of a reloading press. Armscor’s ammo is also Boxer-primed – non-corrosive Boxer-primed, in fact, so you can clean normally after you plow 200 rounds through your rifle!
